The Department works closely in partnership with neighborhood residents, business owners and their employees to solve neighborhood public safety problems. To that end, the Department undertakes proactive efforts to apprehend violators of the law and to prevent crime by working in concert with other city agencies, training our staff, and educating residents, merchants and local students.

Further, the Department will carry out its mission strategically by developing crime strategies that are targeted. We will also leverage our resources by making broad use of volunteers and city, county, state and federal resources.

To meet the City's goal of dramatically reducing crime, fear and disorder, our enforcement efforts must be proactive and strategic. It is equally important, however, that we be just as vigorous in our efforts to ensure that everyone we contact is treated with the utmost dignity and respect. We will achieve these objectives through continuous professional development training and problem solving, working closely with the community, and holding ourselves accountable for providing exemplary services to the citizens of East Palo Alto.
