Administrative Formulas for Calculating Maximum Allowable Rents

A Certificate of Maximum Allowable Rent will be issued by the Rent Stabilization Program every year, beginning on June 30, 2011 for existing rental residents. A landlord may not charge rent to existing tenants in excess of the amount stated on the certificate. Once a regulated rental unit becomes vacant, the landlord is required to submit a new Vacancy Registration statement with the rent (including all housing service fees) agreed to by the landlord and tenant and a Certificate of Maximum Allowable Rent will then be issued for that tenant.
