COVID-19 Update 5/18/2020:

Per the current Shelter-In-Place order, all construction will be allowed to resume, provided that builders comply with the San Mateo County health and safety guidelines from the California Department of Public Health (please see links below).  The office at 
1960 Tate Street will remain closed until further notice.  The Building Division will continue to process existing applications, and new applications as outlined below.  Applicants should continue working with staff to schedule building inspections.  The Building Division can be reached at 650-853-3189.

The Building Services Division is responsible for the protection of public health, safety and welfare through the enforcement of local and state building, housing, zoning, and related codes.The division provides plan check services, permit issuance, inspections and general record keeping through the city’s Permit Center.  For permit forms, applications, and informational handouts, please click here.

215construction.jpgThe Building Division is responsible for code compliance related to building construction, housing, and habitability issues. The Police Department handles most other code enforcement issues, in collaboration with the Building Division or other departments, or San Mateo County. Those issues include illegal dumping, illegal or unpermitted signs or fences, unpermitted home-based businesses, inoperable or abandoned vehicles, and weed abatement, among others.
