Route Changes for East Palo Alto’s Free Shuttle Starting July 1
As of July 1, 2014, there will be two significant changes to East Palo Alto’s free shuttle program:

  1. New free shuttle service will begin on July 1 between the Woodland/Bayshore  neighborhood in East Palo Alto and the Palo Alto Caltrain station. This new shuttle is provided in partnership with the City of Palo Alto. Click here for a flyer including a map of the new shuttle route, or click here to see a Google Maps version.
  2. Shuttle service east of Route 101 will be discontinued as of July 1. Residents can use existing SamTrans bus routes serving these areas, or SamTrans Redi-Wheels (senior/disabled). Discontinuing the shuttle in this area avoids overlap/duplication of bus service, and maximizes the efficient use of limited funds.

Residents in the neighborhoods where the shuttle is being discontinued are served by existing SamTrans bus routes 280, 281, and 296, as well as SamTrans Redi-Wheels (seniors and disabled). Schedule, fare, and route information for SamTrans buses and Redi-Wheels is available by calling 650-660-4287 (TTY only at 650-508-6648), or going online to www.samtrans.com.

Qualified senior and disabled residents in East Palo Alto may also have access to door-to-door shuttle service to and from the East Palo Alto senior center. More information on this program is available by contacting Tammy Holloway at 650-853-5907 or by email at .

After July 1, East Palo Alto residents seeking assistance with accessing any of these alternatives are encouraged to contact Michelle Daher, East Palo Alto Environmental Coordinator, by calling 650-853-3197, visiting 1960 Tate Street, or emailing

Existing shuttle information (valid only through June 30, 2014)

All EPA Free shuttles are white in color and seat approximately 25 passengers. While typically the shuttle routes will be labeled EPA Free Shuttle, shuttles may be substituted for Caltrain or PCA shuttles, as needed. For more information, contact the Mobility Manager at 650-853-3197.
